Concrete Sealant FAQ

Concrete is porous and soaks in water and other liquids, which makes it prone to cracks, crumbling, and fatigue. Water intrusion in your basement will often appear as wet stains on the walls and floors. Your foundation may exhibit those same dark stains, as will the concrete slabs of your driveway, garage, front porch stairs, backyard patio, and the concrete walkways on your property. Over time, the places where the concrete has absorbed water become pocked as the water evaporates. The pockmarks will remain susceptible to the water cycle, which can lead to fungal growth. Either condition will create more damage that eventually causes the concrete to crumble—especially if the concrete components of your home and property are subjected to the effects of shifting, expansive soil.

What is concrete sealant?

Concrete sealant is a liquid coating applied to the surface of your concrete to keep it from absorbing water, thus protecting it from water damage.

How does concrete sealant work?

The sealant creates a topical barrier that causes water to bead on the surface of the concrete instead of soaking in.

Will sealant repair my concrete?

A sealant is proactive protection against water damage. While it may reduce future damage, the sealant itself does not repair the already damaged concrete. Once damaged, we recommend repair or replacement by our professional concrete repair team in Dallas.

Does concrete sealant work on outdoor surfaces?

We highly recommend sealing the surfaces of your outdoor concrete with SealantPro™, a penetrative sealant that does not compromise your footing. Any preventative measure is better than no prevention at all.

Should I seal all my concrete surfaces?

Believe it or not, Texas is susceptible to winter freeze-thaw cycles and bouts of heavy rain. Because of that, we suggest concrete sealant in Dallas for all your exterior concrete surfaces.

Does a sealant change the appearance of my concrete?

Because most exterior sealants penetrate the concrete, they remain practically invisible, though certain acrylic resin and epoxy sealers will leave the concrete looking wet. You can also purchase tinted sealants to match your aesthetics.

How do I get SealantPro™ for my concrete?

SealantPro™ is not available in stores. To have the treatment applied to your concrete surfaces, you need to find a contractor in the Supportworks network. Vesta Foundation Solutions of Texas carries both SealantPro™ and PolyLevel®, which we recommend using together to repair and protect your sidewalks, porches, concrete stairs and more.
