The original floor framing was supported with Stone and old concrete blocks. Because the foundations footing as never set properly the floor was very uneven upstairs.
Many attempts in the past to shim or lift the floor framing was left with unstable concrete blocks not intended to fully support the home.
Rock Pile Support
The original wall of the home was constructed of old rock piers and the framing rested directly on the top without support.
Poor and Unstable Support
The flashlight in this picture shows the height of the crawl space nearly being about 16 inches. Even with tight locations a Smart Jack system can be easily installed.
Installing the New System
The new supports are made of model 288 support posts. Thes galvanized steel piers consist of 2ft deep footings to allow the home to be lifted easily. The rock piers were removed as needed and the home supported on steel beams.
Leveling up the Crawl Space
The support posts are lifted with the assistance of hydraulic jacks rather than traditional concrete piers. Once in place, the components are locked into place and permanently holding the home in a level condition.
The Steel beams used are galvanized 4-inch steel I beam. These beams are joined above each pier and lifted under tension.
The debris is removed after and the leftover stones will become a future stone post by the homeowners!
